My first full day in my new home!

Today started off very well....

Far from not being house trained I impressed everyone by not only sleeping for most of the night (whenever I didn't hear people moving about and went to investigate) but also by not insisting on my long morning walk before everyone had had their breakfast!

Son tried his luck by laying on my bed so I gave him what-for lick wise so I don't think he'll be trying that again in the near future!

I love cuddling and watching TV with Son and Daughter they really make me happy... but Daughter is sometimes too much for me to handle...she is like that cartoon girl who says she'll 'Love 'em and hug 'em and squeeze 'em' do you know the one I mean? She means well but I think if she keeps on like that I'll have to get used to my crate and go there for sanctuary!

I went for a lovely long walk with Mummy, Son and Daughter and Son even picked up some of my 'leavings' ... I could tell Mummy was very impressed! lol...

I'm really not having a happy time with my crate :( .....

After leaving me for increasing time periods yesterday they all left me in there for 15 minutes and I wasn't happy at all! I thought they weren't coming back! Georgie's mummy texted Mummy to say that I really didn't sound happy and that made Mummy all sad ... I wish I could get used to the feelings I get when they all go. I am comfy, fed and warm with some toys in there but I want to be with them every minute of every day and it tears me apart when they don't want to be with me all the time too :(

Mummy says the sound of me upset tears her apart too :( ... Mummy's friends tell her that I will get used to it in the end, but she says it's like when Son and Daughter were babies all over again... she can hear all my upset in my barks and whimpers... but I am sure once I have been here for a while that we'll all get used to the fact that we can't be together 24/7

After all I am very new in my Forever Home.... I think I am doing very well, considering... and so do the rest of the family

Mummy will just have to be very patient with me and I'm sure in a little while we'll be looking back on this and laughing at how we muddled through CrateGate....

Lots of Love

Funny moment - Mummy's friend came round today and when she came to leave shouted for her son 'BEN!' ... I thought she shouted 'Bed!' so I got on my bed... and looked up proudly... Mummy laughed so much! ... but was very very proud of me ...

Adoption Day! (12/12/09)

I was so so so excited that my adoption day had come but first Mummy, Daddy, Son and Daughter had to complete all my adoption forms and have a talk by a very nice man so that they knew more of what to expect from me during the first few days.

After they had all learned more about my needs I was brought out to them and I was so happy I couldn't stop wagging my tail!

We got into the car and I laid on Mummy's leg as it was so comfy and I was really excited to be going to my new home!

We stopped at Pets at Home and I was allowed in to have a look while Mummy and Daddy bought me a new collar. I even chatted with a couple of other dogs that were walking around the shop and told them just how excited I was to be off to pastures new!

When we got home I had a good sniff around and Georgie, a jack russell from next door, came round to introduce herself and I tried to play with her but she was more interested in barking at the cat from next door who is sure that the top of the shed in my yard is hers.... I shall have to teach him that this is my domain now...I'm sure he'll get the message in the end....

I went for a lovely long walk with Daddy in the field at the back of my new house- look how big it is! I think I'm going to have lots of fun having walks around here, especially in the summer!

The night didn't go so well. Mummy and Daddy thought that I wasn't house trained so they had a crate in the kitchen that I was supposed to sleep in but I got so upset (and so did Mummy!!!) that they decided to have a rethink and let me lay on my blanket in the front room with Daddy. I behaved myself very well and it turned out that I am house trained so I won't have to spend much time in that nasty crate overnight and I can sleep upstairs on my bed near my new family without them worrying too much that there will be accidents. I am going to spend some time in it when Mummy pops out for 20 mins to take Daughter to and from school but I'm going to be brave and try to get used to it as I am sure Mummy will keep coming back for me! I have been in there on and off today with the door open so that I can get used to being in there and I'm going to try really hard as I love to please my new family by being brave. I just get really scared that they won't come back :(

Mummy and Daddy are very impressed with me so far. I don't bark as a general rule unless something really upsets me, I am sociable with other dogs when out for a walk on my lead and I'm generally a very chilled out pooch.... I could have told them that already but they really had to find out for themselves I guess!

Adoption minus 1 week (5/12/09)

Hello! :)

Mummy, Daddy, Son and Daughter came to see me at the Dog's Trust in Darlington today and I was so excited to see them! There had been other people interested in taking me home with them but they changed their minds. Mummy in particular was very excited to come and take me for a walk today... I showed them all how very strong I was so that they didn't stop thinking about me for the whole of the next week before they saw me for my adoption!

Mummy sometimes isn't very strong so I showed her my power by leading *her* up the hill at the Dog's Trust...I could see she was very impressed was Daughter, as she has been a bit timid around other doggies before but I made her feel like she was the only person in my world and she melted! Mummy was very pleased, as everyone in the household was as excited about me as she was!

I could hardly wait the whole week until I saw them again but I whiled away the time saying goodbye to all my friends I had made at the Dog's Trust... the people that work there would be very sad to see me go as I had been such a Good Girl while I was there and made some of them laugh very much!

Mummy cried as she left as she thought I would think I was being abandoned by them since they weren't going to come back for such a long time! I tried to call after her that I would be ok but I don't think she heard.....

I hope you will enjoy reading about all my adventures!
